Johnny Depp wins defamation case; Twitterati tell Amber Heard 'remember this as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow'

Hollywood star Johnny Depp is celebrating the jury's verdict in six-week defamation case over bitterly contested allegations of domestic abuse between him and his ex-wife Amber Heard.

"The jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled," Depp said in a statement after the jury awarded him $15 million in damages and just $2 million to Heard after the jury ruled that she defamed Depp when she wrote a 2018 Washington Post op-ed alluding to her past claims of domestic violence.

"From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome," he said.

Depp went on to add, "Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that."

While the jury in the verdict sided more with Depp, it still ruled that Depp defamed Heard in the course of fighting back against her charges.

Apart from Depp celebrating the verdict, fans of the actor and his on-screen character, used a famous line from the film 'Pirates of the Caribbean' to add a humorous twist to the bitter battler.

"Amber Heard will always remember this as the day she almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow," said a fan about the verdict.

Soon, many others joined in and shared their favourite scene from the film and got 'Captain Jack Sparrow' trending on social media. "Captain Jack sparrow till this day has never been caught," said another.
