Is there a chance that Thor and Jane will get back together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
I should clarify that this answer is in light of the announcement that Jane will return to the MCU as Mighty Thor in the upcoming ‘Thor: Love and Thunder film’.
Personally, I’d say there’s a fairly good chance. The heroes and heroines in the MCU have much (much, much, much) less complicated relationships than they do in the comics, which means that they tend to get romantically involved with their “most” canon romantic interest.
I say “most” canon, because a lot of these heroes (like Thor) have comics going back since the 50’s or 60’s, so they tend to get into new relationships with every new writer. But Jane Foster, despite not being romantically involved with Thor for decades in the comics, has continued to play an important role in his series. From what I can tell, most consider Jane to be Thor’s “true love”.
And since the same actors can’t continue to play the same characters over decades (what with aging and whatnot), it would make sense for MCU characters to eventually be retired. And what better way is there for a story to end than for the hero/heroine to ride off into the sunset with their lover to live happily ever after?
That being said, even though in the most recent comics it’s been hinted that the two still have deep feelings for each other, that doesn’t mean they’ll get together again. And the same goes for the movies. They may very well pair both Jane and Thor off with others if they feel like it’ll pull in more money. Personally, I think that would be a waste. I hope that they end up together again in the films.
After all, if this scene looks this good in the comics, imagine how perfect it would look on the big screen?
This is Thor and Jane in the comics while she’s Mighty Thor. You think Marvel is gonna waste THIS golden opportunity?
Lord, I hope not.
